SPONSORED EVENTS

National Cancer Survivors Day - June 23, 2012            Sioux City Bandits Arena Football – Tyson Center

This year marks the17th annual National Cancer Survivors Day (NCSD) celebration sponsored locally by the June E. Nylen Cancer Center. It will be held along with over 700 other celebrations across the nation. The purpose of this annual event is to honor survivors for their strength and courage and recognize the contributions of their families, friends and healthcare providers.  NCSD is the world’s largest and fastest growing cancer survivor celebration, celebrating 25 years nationally.

In Sioux City, we’re inviting survivors to a Sioux City Bandits game, complete with a tailgate party!

Survivors will receive and enjoy a tailgate party, game ticket and t-shirt. Any cancer survivor is welcomed to attend the event free of charge.  The cancer survivors’ guest can attend for $15 per person which covers the cost of the meal and game ticket.

Race for Hope – Sept. 15, 2012

The 15th annual event is Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012 at the Adam’s Homestead & Nature Preserve in McCook Lake, S.D.. It’s more than a race – it’s an opportunity to celebrate life and health for all, including cancer survivors. Last year a record number of people participated – over 750! Jean Gill is the honorary race director.

The event features a 15K or 5K run or walk, and kids’ fun run. All courses are set on the beautiful trails of the Adams Homestead & Nature Preserve. Participants, competing or walking, will have the opportunity to honor someone fighting cancer or a cancer survivor, or remember a deceased loved one by denoting their name(s) on a special race bib. All participants will receive a race t-shirt, post-race food and chances to win door prizes. Friends and loved-ones to encouraged to attend to celebrate the day! All proceeds from the Race for Hope event stay at the Cancer Center to benefit the patients we serve. Click here to register for the 2012 event.

Stars & Angels winter benefit

This gala event, held each February, is our biggest fund-raising event of the year. The event includes a silent and live auction, dinner and a cocktail hour. The night is topped off when a star, someone who is an inspiration, and an angel, a caregiver who has gone above and beyond the call of duty, are honored for all that they do.

 Boxers and Bras

Held annually in the fall, Boxers and Bras brings out the creative side of its participants, who are asked to fashion designer boxer shorts and bras.

An audience award for best undergarments and a fashion show are all part of the evening, which is a casual event, complete with appetizers and cocktails. Find out more.
