Giving

When you give a gift to the June E. Nylen Cancer Center, you not only make a donation you make a genuine difference in someone’s life by ensuring that outstanding cancer care will continue to be provided to your friends and family who live and work in our community. Contributions given “in memory of” or “in honor of” are a kind and meaningful way to pay tribute to someone special in your life.

Ways To Give for Today

Gifts of Cash: Cash gifts are the most common form of giving and are as easy as writing a check or charging your gift to a credit card. You can deduct 100% of the gift amount from your federal income tax, so your net cost is less than the face value of the contribution.  You may also print this form and mail in your donation!

Securities: Giving appreciated stocks and bonds are an excellent way to support the Cancer Center’s programs. This type of gift usually qualifies not only for the income tax deduction associated with all charitable gifts, but can also eliminate capital gains tax.

Join Our Annual Giving Club

The Nylen Cancer Center has developed an Annual Giving club to strengthen support for its patient programs and services.

“Our support services are critical to help patients with the concerns that come with treatment,” says Pat Hubbard, fund development director. “Many patients’ worlds turn upside down with a diagnosis. They struggle to travel here for needed therapy. They miss work. They can’t afford medications and supplies to reduce ill side effects.  Their physical appearances change.

Club contributions will fund patient assistance, round-trip transportation, educational books and DVDs, support group materials, wigs and cosmetic support for patients suffering hair loss and other personal changes.

The club also will help fund vital cancer screenings to promote earlier detection — saving lives and reducing treatment time and healthcare costs.

“Our support services enhance the care and daily living of patients,” Hubbard says. “Our giving club will help ensure these services are here to support our growing number of patients in years to come.”

Ways To Give for the Future

Depending upon your personal goals, a planned gift to June E. Nylen Cancer Center can address several estate issues. Whether you are interested in saving taxes, preserving your wealth, transferring assets, or creating a life income stream, a planned gift can bring attractive financial benefits to you and your family.

Bequests allow you to leave your legacy by considering gifts in your will first to friends and family, then charitable organizations. A bequest is usually money or property and is one of the simplest ways to remember those you care about.

Individual Retirement Accounts (IRA’s). Charitable gifts can be made via an IRA, company-sponsored pension, and profit sharing plans.

Life insurance gifts can be used to create a contribution with no out-of-pocket expense to the donor. By changing the beneficiary and owner of an existing life insurance policy to June E. Nylen Cancer Center you can make a significant future gift possible and affordable. The purchase of a new policy, owned by June E. Nylen Cancer Center, is another attractive option. Gifts to the Cancer Center to cover premiums are deductible for those who itemize, and can be in the form of capital gain property for a second tax savings.

Farm or Residence with Life Estate: A farm or residence is given to the Cancer Center, and the donor continues living on the property and uses it for life.

Your gift may, at the time of your death, be directed to a combination of the above. You may, however, work with Cancer Center staff is you would like to put any restrictions on your gift.
