Congratulations to the 2009 Star and Angel Award Winners

Star Winner:  Penny Sievers, Newell, Iowa

Penny received the Star Award for exemplifying courage and grace in supporting fellow patients and survivors.  She makes bead bracelets which are sold worldwide to fund the organization she created in memory of her grandmother called “I Will Not Worry.”  The money she receives goes to cancer patients currently going through treatment who need a little help making ends meet.

Angel Winner:  Jan Wolterman, Danbury, Iowa

Jan is a volunteer and caregiver.  She provided hope and inspiration to her husband, Pete, who recently passed away from cancer.  As a performer with the lip sync group “Nuns on the Run,” Wolterman helps educate people on the importance of cancer prevention and lightens the hearts of patients and their families.
