Quilters Support the June E. Nylen Cancer Center
The Siouxland Samplers Quilt Guild presented a check to the June E. Nylen Cancer Center on Thursday, March 13 at 9:30 a.m. The gift represents proceeds from the 1st Annual Quiltin Bee held February 8 at the First Presbyterian Church.Leslie Walker quilter and organizer of the event presented the check to Pat Hubbard, director of fund development at the June E. Nylen Cancer Center. The Quiltin Bee featured a silent auction, rummage sale, lunch and over seventy-five quilters spending the day sewing and working on their quilts."The Cancer Center appreciates this donation to help our patients with daily living expenses, such as rent/mortgage payments, utility bills, travel expenses and home-care services," said Hubbard. "This support helps lessen the financial burden of a cancer diagnosis to our patients."The Siouxland Samplers Quilt Guild is made up of 100+ members living in and around Sioux City, IA. The guild was founded in 1988. The Siouxland Samplers Quilt Guild is an incorporated non-profit 501(c)(3) organization with the purpose of creating and encouraging an interest in making, enjoying, and preserving quilts. Guild members strive to make the community a better place by using their skills to benefit various community projects.
